How Jamtry works

Jamtry is a community songwriting project. Listen to the current version, build on it, and submit your jam. The community votes on each generation; the winning version becomes the foundation for the next.

Jam Guidelines
  • MP3 while we write. Demo mixes and stems must be MP3 until the community votes to begin final production. WAV files are also welcome once production starts. That vote becomes available from generation 5.
  • Name your contribution. Tell us what you want credit for: a guitar riff, drum part, bass line, vocal melody, lyrics, arrangement, or new song section.
  • Let us hear it in context. Include a complete, listenable demo mix of the current song with your addition roughly mixed as you intend it to sound, plus the individual stems for your contribution.
  • Leave room for the final mix. Keep stems relatively raw. Skip unnecessary heavy EQ, compression, limiting, mastering, or destructive processing. Effects essential to your sound or creative intent are welcome; stems need flexibility, not complete dryness.
  • No need for a finished master. Final balancing, EQ, compression, and overall mix processing happen after the song is complete.
  • Keep everything in sync. Align all stems to the same song timeline so they stay synchronized with the current song when imported into a DAW.
